2007 News

1/22 Saved by Equihab: a pair of beautiful belgian geldings. We're told they're broke for riding and driving. Pics will be posted soon. They were traded in at a broker's lot in NY, trouble is this broker sells all his extra to slaughter...and these two were literally days away from it.

1/6 January special: free transport of adopted horses! This could save you as much as several hundred dollars, compared to a commercial hauler:

We will deliver your Equihab horse, if adoption completed by Jan 31st, 2007. Limited to a 60 mile radius of us (21901) Those outside the local area: we'll try to help you find affordable transport.

We need your help! Right now we have a waiting list of horses wanting to come into the program. We can't help those until we find homes for a few already here.

You'll have better selection, get FREE transport, and you'll be helping out the horses in need. Adopt today!

1/6 Terrance & Phillip the standardbreds arrive.

1/5 Open House a big success. Thank you for attending!

Looking for a trail horse? Cody the thoroughbred arrives (12/30). He's an extra-sweet guy, nice ground manners and calm. Farrier visits 12/31 and vet is due out this week. Check him out on Petfinder

Our 501c3 paperwork finally is in! We applied earlier in 2006 for our federal tax exemption, and it seemed like forever. Now we have our "Letter" and can apply for grants and other fundraising opportunities.

We've found a way to be at the Horse World Expo in Timonium, Maryland. Please look for us there! Thanks to help from Horizon Structures. We need a few volunteers to man our spot, answer questions, and hand out brochures. If you can, please consider helping out for a few hours any day January 18-21.

Winter Open House Social - Friday January 5th at 7pm at our office in North East, Maryland. We'll be providing beverages and desserts. You're welcome to bring a dish if you like, but it's not required. COME MEET US! See pics of our current and incoming horses. Meet Equihab's officers. And just socialize and have fun! Please RSVP, if you don't mind.

We're starting up an email list to keep people informed & to discuss related issues. Please consider joining us at:

Here's an easy way to help: Follow this link and register at HorseShoes.com. The member with the most referrals gets a special Peterbylt Shoeing Chaps. Our farrier is on our BOD and they could go direclty to her for us on our horses -or- we could raffle them off to raise some cash to help the horses. All it takes is a second -- and horseshoes.com is a good site if you need any info regarding farrier work, hoof health, etc.

THANKS to everyone for your participation & support. Your generous donation helped us to raise almost $3,000! This will go towards our existing vet bill balance, pay for ALL horses' Fall shots & checkups, and give us a head start on the high expense of hay & feed.

Thanks to your support Equihab will be helping to rehome six horses in December! 3 Thoroughbreds, 1 Standardbred, and 2 buggy horses (standardbreds?)

If the horses could pick up a pen, they'd write you all a big thank you letter. Without caring people like you, horses might end up in bad situations or shipped off to slaughter.
